Solaris are delighted to be showing new Prints by Jane Hilton in our first post lockdown show. Jane is a photographer and filmmaker based in the UK, who is renowned for her work documenting American culture, in particular the American West, which she has explored for the past twenty-five years.
For Better or for Worse features Jane’s photographs of American wedding chapels. These ostentatious interior spaces, designed to be inhabited by people, are shown deserted of the celebrants that would normally gather there. We are invited to peruse the unique character of these rooms that were never conceived to be viewed in isolation, and they become both eerie and absurd.
