In One Hundred Demons, Kim L Pace’s second solo presentation at Solaris, an evolving cast of shadowy, speculative figures—after-images and spectral apparitions—emerge and dissolve.
The luminously-coloured works on paper and ceramic sculptures are part of Pace’s continuing exploration of our intangible, internal landscape that plays host to psychological entities such as the “shadow” and “inner demons”. Drawing on wide-ranging sources—from art history and folk culture to dark literary fiction and archetypal motifs, Pace conjures up ghost-like beings that render the inner self visible.
